Hardinge TM mills had a choice of 1" or 7/8" arbors. Both are very common, standard sizes of cutter bore. For instance, some sizes of gear cutters are available with either size bore. I have sets of new Chinese gear cutters in 30 and 48 pitch that were low cost and work well. I bought some of them from Wholesale Tool in Warren, MI years ago.
